Picture Gallery courtesy of Franz Venhaus at http://gallery.me.com/crassus#101524
24 competitors faced up to Venezuelan International course builder Leopoldo Palacios challenging track. Raymont secured the win by posting a clear in the second round - the only clear round of the competition.
Tom McDermott was second riding SL Limerick. After posting the best first round score with only one rail down, McDermott was in the pole position coming into the second round. Unfortunately, two rails hit the floor and he finished the two rounds on 13 penalties to Raymont’s 9 faults. McDermott just missed out on taking the hat-trick after showing his talent by winning the junior and young rider finals earlier in the day. Third place in the Grand Prix was taken by Queenslander Cathy Graham riding the careful Da Vinci's Pride also finishing on 13 penalties but with a slower time, 4th went to Victorian Tim Clarke on Caltango with 16 faults, 5th was last years winner Brook Dobbin riding Advisor. Palacios set a very tough course, to challenge the new crop of Australian World Cup riders, with half the riders being 26-years-of-age or or younger.
The 2011 World Cup - Australian League winner was Jamie Kermond - who was so far ahead on points he did not need to compete in the final competition on the weekend. Jamie will head overseas in January, firstly to the USA and then Europe, in his bid for the London Olympic Games.
The prestigious futurity class was won by Andrew Inglis on I Casper, and the tough Mini Prix was won by James Passey on Yirrkala Elliot.

Sad news
The following artical is taken From the NSW EA Generations of the showjumping and wider equestrian community will be saddened to hear of the death on Monday 31st of October of one the most loved gentlemen in the sport, Bob Brook.
Bob was rushed to Windsor hospital Monday morning with severe chest pains and then transferred to Westmead, but died soon after. Always hard working and especially supportive of young riders Bob had beeen doing what he enjoyed, judging at a Pony Club Showjumping competition on Sunday and was still regularly assisting with course designing and officiating.
Bob and Joyce have been awarded ‘Services To The Equestrian Sport’ from Jumping NSW and Eventing NSW, and they were life members of Jumping NSW and the Sydney Jump Club. His roles in the sport were too many to mention and we are thankful that we have had such a legend to help shape our sport in Australia. He was also immensely proud of the equestrian achievements of his daughter, Colleen, who has been one of our elite level competitors for so many years and now his grand daughter Elizabeth (Liz) who is following in Colleen's footsteps

Canberra International horse trials
Don Invgall riding Kitara Diamond Edition, takes out the hard fought Hewatts CIC3* at 2011 Canberra Horse Trials.
A gutsy and determined XC ride put Dom just 0.2 penalties behind Shane Rose on Taurus going into the final showjumping leg. Shane and Dom recorded the fastest rounds of the in the XC phase both just over the optimum time. The 3* course looking stunning in the sun ,was designed by Dan Olson. It had some tough new fences and a more open feel from previous years, but time was still the most influential factor rearranging the top spots.. Tim Boland saw his over night lead slip after a super XC clear but just too slow, the Italian Fabio Magni had a fantastic XC round on the former Tinney ride Watermark Grayson and climbed from 6th to 3rd. Stuart chased him all the way, also climbed from 7th to 4th after a big effort from Panamera. Local rider Nat Blundell riding the diminutive Algebra put a nightmare first phase of dressage behind her and pulled out all stops on the final day.. She blitzed clear around cross country track and to climb a massive 12 spots from 17th to 5th to the delight of the local crowd. Edith Kane on ESB Irish Justice lying second after dressage didn’t have the best of rides xc and was eliminated . Showjumping designer from Farmline, Brad Longhurst built a technical and challenging track in the Vibe FM arena, the riders having to concentrate every step of the way. Jumping in reverse order riders rose to the challenge. Placings changed the final 6 positions. Fabio Magnis’2 rails dropped him from 3rd to 8th place, Shanes ride APH Mortiz had 1 rail, dropping to7th .Pressure mounted as Emma Scott, Nat Blundell ,Stuart Tinney and Tim Boland all posted fantastic clears. With 2 riders remaining and less than 0.2 penalties between them, not even a time fault was afforded. Dom Ingvall mounted enormous pressure on Rose by jumping a foot perfect round on Kitara Diamond Edition.. Rose, riding Taurus was all clear until the final combination of fences only to take out the second element that cost him the 3* crown. This element in the treble caught him on each of his 3 rides in 3*, and was the most influential fence on course. The Saddle world 2* was taken out by the in form Christine Bate on the wonderful Thoroughbred Delago despite a rail in the showjumping. Rose moved up to 2nd after a super clear showjumping round riding the lovely Virgil by Vivant. 3rd went to Emma Armstrong on Cassilis park Pendragon. The 2*XC track was very tough to get time, and strongly impacted the interim standings .The showjumping produced 7 clears and was influential in the final placings. Christine was the only competitor to keep her placing from start to finish. The WOW 1* was won by popular local Claudia Graham riding Park Street Vision, from Amanda Ross riding Willaim Wordsworth and Tim Boland on Umunga all finishing on their dressage scores. Pine Ridge Prenovice A Winner Tallara Barwick riding A horse called Wanda on her dressage score Over the top JNR prenov went to Taylor Robertson riding PP Rouse about, winning on her dressage score Farmline prelim A winner Sophia Adams riding Nadal finished on her dressage score Farmline B winner Jessica Green and Inspire me, finished on her dressage score Wallaroo Equestrian JNR prelim winner Amy Dean on Kitara Ice cool, finished on her dressage score Full results at http://nchta.com.au/uploads/results.pdf

ACT Eric Haltner comp
July 17th 2011 the comp coincided with the course design clinic. It was hectic for me ,but Harriet had a great day. She rode all the courses in ring 1 on three different horses and constructively commented on the flow and lines. Each height being designed by different course designers, she was complimentary about all the courses. The highlight was watching the 4yr old pop a flowing 90cm track with good rhythm at the beginning of the day and Ralph jump his first 1.30 track in great style at the end of the day.All the budding Leopaldos did a great job. Thank you to John and Brad for over seeing the day.

Some were very experienced, some were riders and coaches and some new to the subject. It was really fun.
ESP and Oaks YH show at Camden
July 2/3 2011. Another great show from ESP with super sponsor support from the Oaks stud and Global entries. Eddie jumping round his first 5 yr old YH 1.05 track, Clearing every thing by miles until a giant spook at the scary trailer and a rail at the next fence. This young horse has still to develope concentration, but the jump is mind blowing especially the air he gave the fence after the rail!.
June News
Christoph Hess at SIEC
June 2011 A rare privilige to watch a great coach and top horseman, the riders were fantastic . Christoph is an absolute master to create the correct way of going, with immense tact shown and allowing each rider to demonstrate their talent. The horses loved the extra space to move and the zero conflict of aids. In side leg to outside rein and use the seat not the hand. Much more opera at the end of each training session. Great to see a local rider selected for the clinic, Rebecca Walsh. Just super.
ESP Camden FEI Amateur and YH show
June 2011 Harriet took Freewheeler (Ralph) and youngster Eddie to the ESP organised three day jumping show at Camden. Ralph had a great show placing in the 1.10 and having an unlucky rail in the 1.20 jump off. Eddie managed to over come the dislike of puddles(it poured) and cope with the bridge to ring three. Jumping consistantly well all weekend. Even in the rain on Monday
Pegasus RDA open day
May 2011 Talented wood sculptor Adam Humphreys from Britain but based at the Crisp gallery Yass, carved with a chainsaw and donated a wooden Pegasus for the center on the open day. Stalls, music and food combined with the artist working on site made for a great day of fundraising and fun.
The CDI Sydney
April 2011 superbly run showcase event. Our region was well represented at the comp. The small tour horses looked super in the indoor and the young horses had some great combinations. The friday Grand Prix had too few highlights which was a shame.
Ingrid Klimke at DJWTS Werribee
March 2011 A truely beautiful rider, the perfect seat and a wonderful horsewoman. Ingrid coached and rode superbly, with empathy and prescision.Watching the tact and patience to develope the horses confidence and swing over poles was tops. The master classes were out standing. The Grand Prix was really lovely to watch.
Jumping with the stars and Greg Best
March 2011 Greg judged the young jumping horse classes with such a depth of understanding and was so eloquent in his explaination, onlookers were educated and entertained. His masterclasses without exception continued the developement of the horse and rider, his exercises carefully chosen to bring the best out of the participants.Tulura Balouche looked fantastic, well done Alex, but it was Ally Lambs 4yr old by Conquistador that really caught my eye.
Boyd Excell, the world champion driver and horseman at Bungendore
Feb 2011 What a horseman, Boyd was joined by Brett Parbury at the property Wittwood for a combined driving and dressage demo to compare the similarities of the two disciplines. Boyd drove a team of 4 in hand despite a broken leg, demonstrating that rhythm, suppleness and contact are also the foundation of the training scale for driving horses as well as riding horses.
George Morris SIEC and MT White and Victoria
January 2011 Hanging out for George to return and he didnt disappoint. I watched the SIEC clinic, Harriet watched and pole picked (brave) at the Mount White Clinic. Then Harriet got the opportunity to ride at the Victorian Clinic at Adams Woottens center. Despite a hellish drive, flat tyre and some how going by Kingslake (mine and google maps fault) she got down in time to have a fabulous two days riding with George. The standard was less elite than in NSW and this suited well. George didnt lower his expectation or his energy, the exercises were simpler but the expected application of all students was still 110%. With his love of Throughbreds, Ralph caught his eye this time for the right reasons. He is our inspiration for excellence and is a truely remarkable and generous man. Cant wait for his return in 2012.
